Busy days for THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES! On November 18th, there was a gathering of local authors for book reading/sales at the Sunset Hill Community Club. I was able to read an excerpt, sold lots of copies and met many wonderful people.
Now, in December there are TWO upcoming events to announce. First, on Friday, Dec. 9th at the SECRET GARDEN BOOK STORE, 2214 NW Market Street in Ballard (Seattle), there will be a book signing from 7-8pm. I'll be there with my novel, along with a number of Ballard authors. The first person to show me a photo taken of my book in the store window will receive a free, autographed copy! Also, on December 17th (Saturday), there will be a WINTER SOLSTICE PARTY and Pot Luck Dinner at the SUNSET HILL COMMUNITY CLUB - 3003 NW66TH St. Many arts and crafts will be on sale for the holidays...and I'll be selling signed copies of THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES. The party is from 5-9pm. Hope to see you there! Just returned from a wonderful trip to Australia with my nephew Sammy...the inspiration for my golden-eyed hero Rupert. During our visit, my sister Barbara (herself an author) hosted a book party for THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES. It was a marvelous event, and we had the pleasure of selling and signing all our books. Hope to make another trip someday. What a beautiful country!
My novel has just been chosen as recommended reading for boysread.org, a group that promotes literacy in young male readers! I'm delighted that John Martin, the organization founder, found THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES 'unique' and 'very cool'!
To check it out, please go to the boysread.org website and click on the blog. I have just learned that THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES has received 'HONORABLE MENTION' at the 2011 New York Book Festival in the Teenage Book Category!
Just learned that THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES has been named as runner-up for Best Young Adult Novel at the Paris Book Festival, a contest allowing submissions in 5 languages! Of course, so thrilled with the new honor!
I have just been interviewed about THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES by KOMO news reporter Michael Harthorne. It was great fun, and I hope you'll take a look. Here is the link:

Of course, I'm thrilled and excited! Hope this will help even more people become acquainted with Rupert's saga!
I'm thrilled to announced that I just completed book three of the saga of THE BOY WITH GOLDEN EYES. I will now look forward to begin the editing process for the 2nd book in the series, and hope to have it available before the end of the year.
As always, the writing process was a joy, and I thank my great-nephew Sam for his constant inspiration. Thanks to fans of book one, who have been awaiting the second volume. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as the first! On Saturday, Dec. 18th, was the Solstice Party at the Sunset Hill Community Center in Seattle. It was especially wonderful to attend because my great-nephew Sammy, the inspiration for The Boy With Golden Eyes, was also able to attend. We had a great time selling and signing copies of the book, and Sammy was recognized instantly as the 'cover boy'! I know it was a memorable evening for us both, and the positive attention for my novel was really gratifying.
